1. Can I buy connectors in larger quantities?

Yes, connector quantities can be customized for larger orders. Please email us at sales@connectorcountry.com for a personal quote.

2. What is a low torque connector?

Torque is a measure of a twisting force, usually in units such as "inch/pounds." Low torque refers to ease of installation. Low torque connectors are partially filled with silicone to facilitate ease of installation. Available in a nut or a wing style, these connectors correspond with the electrical industry's universal color code system, and may be used wherever traditional twist-on connectors are applied. UL and CSA approved.

3. Is a low torque connector waterproof?

Low torque connectors are not waterproof. When a splice needs to be waterproofed, use Outdoor Aqua Series Connectors for the easiest and safest protection.

4. Which connectors are waterproof?

  • Outdoor Aqua Series Twist-On Connectors
  • DBSR (Direct Bury with Strain Relief)
  • Direct Bury Lug

5. Are waterproof connectors really waterproof?

The term "waterproof" in this context represents a summary of UL testing encompassing performance evaluations for simulated rain, hose-down and immersion in different water/chemical solutions, salt spray, and humidity. Filled connectors have made it possible to preserve the integrity of electrical splices in a variety of wet location applications. Each "waterproof" connector is pre-filled with a non-conductive waterproofing sealant that coats each wire and seals the entire splice against all moisture intrusion. The Outdoor Aqua Series Connectors may be used in any application, especially where the splice is likely to come into contact with water.

6. Are waterproof connectors submersible?

Outdoor Aqua Series Twist-On Connectors, DBSR (Direct Bury with Strain Relief) and Tan low voltage connectors can be submersed for short periods of time; however these products are not designed for permanent submersion. Submersion is not recommended by connector manufacturers or by Connector Country.

7. What is creep?

Creep occurs when metal wires gradually become deformed due to stress. Usually creep takes place at connection points where a screw can squeeze and deform the conductor, leaving it under stress which can cause a loose connection. This may be followed by oxidation, arcing and overheating of the splice that may further lead to damage to an entire electrical system.

8. Which connectors can be direct buried?

We offer three connectors approved for underground direct burial including the Direct Bury Lug, DBSR (Direct Bury with Strain Relief) and Tan low voltage connectors. These connectors are also the best connectors for low voltage applications.

9. Which connector should I use for aluminum wiring?

AlumiConn offers the best pig-tailing solution for aluminum wiring. It has three ports that eliminate intermixing of dissimilar metals, so connections remain approximately 25ºF cooler than purple twist-on connectors. AlumiConn is UL Listed 486C as a Pressure Screw Type Connector, and meets US and Canadian specifications for aluminum to aluminum wiring systems, aluminum to copper wiring systems, as well as copper to copper wiring systems.

10. Why do I need a connector with strain relief?

The DBSR (Direct Bury with Strain Relief) Connector has a strain relief lid. The benefit of a strain relief lid is that the lid moves the stress on the splice from the connection point further up on the wire. Connections will not be compromised with less stress at the connection point.
